REVIEW: Steamworks from Raging Stallion

I know it’s taken me a while to review Steamworks. It’s not like i didn’t rip open the package the moment I saw it. I did. Who could resist such a film that included three of my favorite Raging Stallion Exclusives: Race Cooper, Angelo Marconi, Austin Wilde and the one and only power top extraordinaire Diesel Washington? Not me. No one fucks like these guys and they are very satisfying to watch.

Earlier this year I went in search of urban porn sites that featured black men as everyday guys not thugs with tricked out grills, chains and jerseys because the spectrum of black men in adult film (as in life) is certainly more that that. It became a challenge. Everywhere I looked, thug porn ruled supreme. Most of it was utterly ridiculous. I know I’m dropping my own politics into this. There’s not enough non-thug black on black porn and thug porn does not appeal to me.

Yes, I know that a lot of people get off watching interracial fucking where one guy is pasty white and the other guy is so dark the juice in his berry must be the sweetest ever. That’s a novelty, and I enjoy that too, but there is something to be said when rich brown skin comes together. It’s powerfully erotic rich with smooth flava.

This brings me to Steamworks from Raging Stallion.

Steamworks takes place in the very popular bathhouse by the same name in San Francisco. While there, men hook up in a variety of trysts that are sexy and sweaty. You can see the sweat dripping off this cast of beautiful men. The film has the feel of a peep show with a multitude of fades to black, reminding you to blink. Certainly don’t want to miss any of the action happening between them.

Angelo has two scenes with two power tops in this film and he looks spectacular in both. I must say I enjoyed his scene with Diesel more than with Alexsander Frietas. I can’t help comparing the two scenes since I think Angelo is sublimely gorgeous and he’s hypnotizes me whenever he’s on the screen. I found myself more into Angie’s scene with Diesel. Their performances are outstanding and they seem to roll into a groove with each other. There’s not just one way of fucking, there’s many ways and Diesel takes Angelo thru them all. I’m getting all hot thinking about it.

On the other hand I thought his scene Alexsander’s scene was more about worshipping Alex. If you like that then you will love his scene in Steamworks. I am growing weary of seeing the same performance from Alexsander in every film he does. Maybe this is what people want from him, mindless power fucking with little regard to his scene partners. I dunno. It doesn’t work for me. I need a little more range from Frietas. That said Angelo gives the best performance he can in the scene given the limitations.

The Steamworks peep show really hits its stride with Race Cooper and Derek Reynolds, their rich chestnut skin against the royal blue lockers is gorgeous. There’s so much sexual energy in this scene, I felt like I was on the verge of imploding before the first fade, aka blink. Yet when the shot fades in these two have just kept on fucking, oblivious to anyone that might watching. They are that into each other. I don’t know which scene I liked more this one, Angelo and Diesel, or the one below.

Austin Wilde and Topher Dimaggio. There’s an old saying that goes there’s a thin line between … well, you know the rest. Topher and Austin have tremendous sexual chemistry, enough to make one wonder if this scene kept going long after the shoot was over and showers taken. It’s a testament to what kind of performances Steve Cruz and Tony Dimarco get from these men. Austin has that gorgeous, sexy body. I can’t get enough of him. His swagger following Topher to their room killed me. Austin has sex appeal in spades, so watching him bottom for Topher left me undone. Love everything about him in this scene. It’s amazing!

Steamworks is ground breaking. This is what I’ve come to expect new from Raging Stallion Studios during my short tenure into porn: films that don’t fit into a standard mold and step into new territory whether it be ultraviolent cowboys, a curious alien who came to dinner, or a murder mystery with a twist. Steamworks is well made and does not fall into the convenient stereotypical traps a film such as this could. The setting could be anywhere. The music is unexpected. It’s not urban. It’s raw, gritty and bluesy. It could have had a mixed cast and still delivered hot performances with sex that makes your toes curl. There in lies what I like the most about this film what’s missing in most ethnic films, a sense of racial blindness if you will. The road has been paved for a new genre of black and blatino films that are outside the narrow confines of street gangs or thug life. I don’t think those ‘fetishes’ will disappear but Steamworks has shown there is room for different view. Well done.

Last night, Angelo Marconi headlined Cocktails with the Stars at Mickey’s Bar in West Hollywood. It’s been ages since I’d seen Angelo. He’s such a busy boy. It was great to catch up and dish about men. We both openly drooled over D.O.’s hotness and some Argentine guy, named Julian who melted both of our buttas! Besides all the hugging (cos he smelled so yummy. I wound up wearing his scent all night. Could you dieh!!), Angelo floored me with a self portrait of his ass, his latest Men with iPhones Blackberries photo. Angie could be the poster boy for that site. He loves to take photos in the bathroom mirror in various states of undress. Maybe one day he’ll let me share some of those hot ass pictures on my blog. (I’ll keep asking him! ) They are too fucking sextacular! I adore Angelo, just adore him. He’s so much fun! Angie makes me laugh and turns me on. The man is gorgeous!

I promised myself I’d pay attention during his Q&A for little interesting tidbits. Ever wonder how Angelo got his start in porn? REVIEW: Tales of Arabian Nights Part Two

Forgive the delay between the two reviews. Real life sorta took over and this needed more attention than a mere “wow that was hot.” Here goes…

Tales of the Arabian Nights Part Two was directed by Ben Leon and continues the immersion into a fantasy, a world of hot, brown skinned men in beautiful settings that arouse and titillate, providing many pleasurable hours.

Without further ado, here’s a quick scene breakdown. You can read full scene descriptions and a synopsis here.

Hairy Arabs.
Steve Cruz and Aybars open the second part of Arabian nights and set the tone for the rest of the DVD. Their sex is slow, passionate, and completely engrossing to watch. Instantly we step back into the fantasy which Part One enveloped us. The music here is amazing. The first few moments I just listened to the rich, stuccato guitar work. It really accents the scene and changes pace to suit our lovers. It’s some of the best porn music I’ve heard since I began watching gay porn. Love this.

Sucking on the Hookah Pipe
Damien Crosse and Wilfried Knight. This scene is so hot, it took me days to get past it. I just didn’t want to. The heat between Damien and Wilfried was palatable. There were moments where Damien started coming apart at the seams, his legs twitching and shaking. Damien is literally upside down, in an awkward position, holding a pose that prolly woulda bested a few men. Somehow he manages to grab Wilf’s hand making this scene just that much more intimate and intense. It never lets you go, it doesn’t diminish. The energy keeps building. Between Damien sucking on Wilfried’s toe and Wilf’s orgasmic squeal, I’m spent. This one is just fucking well done. Run it back, play it again. Be visually and aurally satisfied. This is a scene I’m going to wear out.

Diamond in the Desert
Derrek Diamond Ricky Martinez, by far the most gorgeous scene on either DVD! I don’t have much to say about this scene, other than I loved watching it, repeatedly. Derrek Diamond really does it for me lately. Watching him with Ricky was very sensual and soothing, a nice quiet moment between the Hookah pipe and the Orgy.

Arabian Orgy

This scene is the longest and I needed breaks during viewings. I’m always a little weary of group scenes, i get confused over who’s doing whom and it all mostly turns into a blur for me. This one has a nice build but somewhere along the way, I think I just lost track of bodies, who’s sucking whom who’s fucking whom and well that’s distracting. Not that i don’t love watching them together, but I really wanted to have Austin, Angelo and David mixed up with Tony, Antonio and RJ instead of together again. It was a little derivative of the hot threeway in part one. When the the trio did split I felt it was all too brief. I just wanted it tossed a little differently. In my opinion, it’s best to watch this orgy in little segments.

I’m mixed about part two. Some parts really turned me on, leaving me panting. Others distracted and confused. I would watch certain scenes over and over, my mind reeling. I have my favorite scenes: the searing erotic energy between Damien and Wilfried, the fuckfest of Austin Wilde, Angelo Marconi, and David Dirham, and all the fur that’s fit to film between Aybars and Conner and Aybars and Steve. I’m completely in love with Aybars, his hair, his belly, his lips…he’s just sexy. I love how the camera lingers on all my favorite parts of him. I can’t get enough.

Yet, despite my mixed reaction to the second disk, there’s no denying the film’s depth and scope. Tales of the Arabian Nights is a masterpiece. It’s one of those DVDs that you pull off the shelf when you want to be swept away to an exotic locale where the men are mind altering hot and the sex…well the sex is out of this world!
