In addition to being scorchingly hot, Focus/Refocus promises to be provocative. This is porn noir after all. I know the film’s controversial. Yes, I know some people think it’s a snuff film and aren’t going to watch it. That’s cool. There’s plenty of other stuff out there. I’ll say it. I’m looking forward to seeing how the violencia is incorporated into the story. That said, I’ll be saving my opinion on the bloodshed until I see the film.

This post is called Death Becomes You.
The pics of Ryan Raz laying dead and bloodied have been out on the internet for a while. Under the jump are a few spoiler pics. Look at your own risk. Otherwise, wait for my next round of Focus/Refocus pic spamy goodness.
OMG WHODUNNIT? Who could be so wicked, so evil as to cause such carnage?
Find out in Focus/Refocus.

I think this artistic, savage and erotic all at once. What that says about me, I’m not sure, but I am looking forward to it.
I just got “To the Last Man”. I appreciate the artistry and the attempt to combine porn with a Hollywood-style storyline . I liked the way that even the sex was used to advance character development. But I was simultaneously disturbed by the direction that RSS seems to be going. You constantly have to up the ante. Even if Focus/Refocus doesn’t cross the line for me, what about the next one? Will we get to decapitations and dismemberment?
Gay men have all to often been victims of senseless violence. Hardly a day goes by without a new gay bashing or murder reported in the blogs. Decapitations and dismemberment came to mind because of the recent horrific murder of 19 year old Jorge Steven Lopez Mercado in Puerto Rico. Are we going to eroticize that? Where does it end?
Two scenes in “To the Last Man” were especially disturbing in light of recent events. The burning alive scene reminded me of the case of boys pouring alcohol over another boy and lighting him on fire. The rape scene reminded my of the brutal gang rape in Richmond, CA. I can’t help but think that Hollywood violence (and the degradation of women in straight porn) contributes to incidences like these. One can oppose censorship and still wish that filmmakers would be more socially responsible. I’m glad to be part of a community that abhors violence.
I find a lot of the porn I enjoy employs darker themes that blur the line between BSDM and flat out violence. To some that could be the same side of the coin.
That is not to say I condone hate crimes. To your point too many gay boys are targeted for reasons that have nothing to with media influence, but hate, pure and simple. That’s my 2 cents.
